Encourage Yourself in God’s Word
I was encouraging a friend the other day and was reminded of this confession of faith that I had wrote for myself during a challenging time in my life around 2005. I felt now was a good time to share it because others may feel like they are alone and don’t always have someone around to encourage. I believe if you read these words out loud everyday and sometimes twice a day, you will begin to see faith grow in your heart and you will start believing what it says because the concepts are based in the Word of God.
My Personal Confession of Faith
This is my personal confession of faith concerning my love for God and all of His ways. I believe Proverbs 12:14 when it says, “From the fruit of my lips I am filled with good things, as surely as the work of my hands reward me.” I believe that today, right now, I will enjoy good things from the fruit of my lips.
I am today a new creation in Christ, everything that was out of place and wrong in my life has now gone away, today everything is made new. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, not by my own works, but by the complete finished work of the cross, today I stand blameless and without guilt or condemnation before God my Father.
I am adopted into the family of God, the Father chose me while I was yet a sinner and sent Jesus to die for me; today because of Jesus and the power of His resurrection I am a child of God. All spiritual blessings are mine today!
I am a child of God that pleases my Father, a good husband, and a godly man wherever I go (add your place in life here). I accept and receive healing in every part of my body, I accept forgiveness for every sin I have repented of, I accept wealth and financial prosperity into my life and ministry, I accept the favor and the blessing of God upon all that I have and do. I declare today will be a good day. I will go to the mountain of God and have sweet fellowship with my Lord and walk in His power and wisdom.
I declare today I will see Chicago and the nations blessed and come to Jesus (add your ministry here). Today I will see revival on the streets and in the hearts of the people. Today I will see the nine gifts of the Spirit made real in life. I will be an answer to Jesus’ prayer for laborers. I will be an instrument used by the Master to bring a nation back to God. Jesus has already won every battle and defeated every enemy that I will face today.
I will draw nearer today to Jesus and trust the Lord more then I have before. I have decided to forever leave behind spiritual milk and I will continually feast at the table of the Lord. I will operate in the fruit of the Spirit because Jesus dwells within me. I will not react to any situation with the deeds of the flesh, but rather I will respond to every issue of life with the wisdom, power, and peace of God, which comes from the Holy Spirit.
Because of the cross I am a fruitful vine in God’s vineyard. I am firmly planted by the river of God. I bear and multiply an abundance of fruit in season. I am a faithful servant to Jesus my Master. Today I have accepted my duty in the kingdom of God and I will love the Lord with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. I will love my neighbor as my self. I will be like Jesus in all my ways.
I welcome the Holy Spirit into my life. “Come Holy Spirit of God and lead me today. I need you and desire your friendship and intimacy. I welcome you into every part of my life and into every part of my day. Walk before me today and guard all my steps. Walk next to me for comfort, strength, and guidance with every move I make. And walk behind me and be my protection from what I cannot see. I acknowledge you are here with me now. Welcome Holy Spirit.”
When my day is done and I lay down to sleep, my sleep will be sweet. The Lord will sing His song of love over me. I will dream about the things of God and be filled with joy and rest as I sleep. When I wake I will hear my Father call my name and I will answer with this confession of my faith.

Here is a slide I made for a sermon series I preached on “Identity.” This is great to confess in prayer as well!
