Five Marks of Maturity in My Life
Here is a short list of things God dealt with me privately about and have born fruit for me personally over the last couple of years. I write this in hopes that it might encourage others who have had similar words from the Lord:
- PEACEFUL SOCIAL MEDIA: Not wasting time arguing on social media- the time and energy saved is so useful for other things.
- A QUIET LIFE: Being content living a quiet life without trying to impress people- it feels so good to live for Jesus this way. A couple of my catch phrases are, “I owe no man nothing but to love them” when thinking about strained relationships I see people in who try to fast track success without God’s favor and “Not my monkeys, not my circus” when tempted to jump uninvited into other people’s mess.
- WORKING WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE AT THE RIGHT TIME: Stop trying to make things happen with people who don’t want them to happen- waiting for the right people is worth it. On a ten-day vacation with my family we literally dealt with “0” issues in our church- God has surrounded me with true leaders that care for the church with integrity and save me the pangs of a “Oompa Loompa” ministry.
- JOY IN DAY-TO-DAY PARENTING: Enjoying doing things with my kids that I’ve done 1,000 times, but it’s new for them- walks, talking about basic things in the world, traveling, etc. For example, on a whim finding joy in staying up late to watch a movie with popcorn.
- HEALTHY HABITS: Deciding not to feel sorry for myself because I have to be strict every day in what I eat and how much I exercise- even after three years. I keep telling myself, “Nothing in weight loss and health is free- pay now or pay later!”
These are just a few of the most important but if we ever chat in person please feel free to bring them up to me because they have literally transformed my day-to-day life and I’d love to go into more detail!
John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full!”
