Hebrews 13:17-19

In this section, Paul warns against embracing strange teachings, emphasizes the importance of strengthening one's heart through grace rather than ceremonial practices, highlights Jesus's sacrifice outside the city gate, encourages believers to focus on the eternal city to come, and underscores the significance of offering praise to God, doing good, sharing with others, respecting leaders, and praying for his own restoration to them.

HEBREWS 13:9-19

9 Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by eating ceremonial foods, which is of no benefit to those who do so. [Mark 7:19-23, Colossians 2:16, & Romans 14:1-4; 17] 10 We have an altar from which those who minister at the tabernacle have no right to eat. [Hebrews 4:16; 8:5, John 6:43-64, & Revelation 6:9]

11 The high priest carries the blood of animals into the Most Holy Place as a sin offering, but the bodies are burned outside the camp. [Leviticus 16:1-7; 27, Ephesians 4:9-10, & 1 Peter 3:18-20] 12 And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood. [John 19:17] 13 Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore. 14 For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come [Hebrews 11:10; 12:22 & Revelation 21:1-4, 22:14].

15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. [Hosea 14:2, & Philippians 4:4-9, & Romans 12:1-2] 16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. [Luke 10:25-37]

17 Have confidence in ["Obey" KJV] your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. [2 Thessalonians 3:14 & Philippians 2:12] Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you. [James 5:9]

18 Pray for us. We are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way. 19 I particularly urge you to pray so that I may be restored to you soon.
