How and Why to Pray for Boston

Three Reasons To Pray for Boston

  1. God commands us to pray when people suffer, James 5:13.
  2. God is able to comfort and heal broken hearts, Isaiah 61:3.
  3. God helps us feel deeper compassion for the hurting and also relieves our pain, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4.

Three Ways To Pray for Boston

  1. Pray silently to yourself and God in Jesus’ name.
  2. Pray out loud with someone else in Jesus’ name.
  3. Pray with a group of believers in church in Jesus’ name.

Jesus said in John 14:14, “You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”

Example Prayer

Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus and I ask you to comfort the families of those who have either lost loved ones or have suffered injury.  I humbly ask you to bring healing to all your beloved people in the great city of Boston.

We also ask for swift justice to come for all who brought this harm upon the innocent. May they be found and punished for such wickedness.

We also repent of our sins as a nation and ask for your mercy- protect us with your Spirit and guide us in your righteous ways. I believe and declare you will do great things in Boston and in this nation as we all turn again to follow all your holy commands and laws.

God, we implore you to bless our nation once again- In Jesus’ name, Amen.
