John 13:31-38
Jesus teaches the disciples to believe in the glory the Father has given Him and commands us to love others as He has loved us.
John 13:31-38
31 When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified and God is glorified in him. [John 8:54; 11:4] 32 If God is glorified in him, God will glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him at once. [John 17:1-5]
33 “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. [John 7:33-34]
34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. [Leviticus 19:18, 1 Thessalonians 4:9, & 1 Peter 1:22] 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” [1 John 3:14-15]
36 Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?”
Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.” [2 Peter 1:13-14]
37 Peter asked, “Lord, why can't I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”
38 Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me? Very truly I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times! [John 18:15-18; 25-27]
