Day 13 | The Prayer of Agreement

Matthew 18:19, “Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.”

Jesus in the above passage gives clear instruction for those who are willing to humble themselves and pray with others for their needs to be met called the “prayer of agreement.”  Most of all praying will be done in private between you and God; however, there are times in which you are commanded to pray with others.  And in those times you are given the promise of success from Jesus Himself.

Jesus powerfully proclaims “anything” you ask with another on earth, will be done by your Father in heaven.  The “anything” Jesus is referring to is “anything” according to His will.  Thus, the people praying together in agreement are to do so by the very will of God.

John wrote in 1 John 5:14-15 concerning the will of God and prayer, “14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us–whatever we ask–we know that we have what we asked of him.”  Therefore, I believe the important factor of praying with people is to be sure to know God’s will and to pray exactly what God desires according to His revealed Word.

Therefore, we as Christians should be committed to meeting regularly with other believers and making our requests known to God.  Some of the best ways to pray the prayer of agreement are in the following places, (1) Home Bible studies, (2) Church prayer meetings, and (3) At the altars with church prayer workers.

Try to make time this week to get together with someone and pray the prayer of agreement according to God’s will!
