The Trinity Seen in the Family

The persons of the Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) made mankind in their plural image- three in one unity (tri-unity or trinity).

First, let’s not wrongly assume that Father God resembles an earthly father, the Holy Spirit an earthly mother and then Jesus the child. Because the Holy Spirit submits to The Father and Son; and He is masculine not feminine (John 16:15).

Second, see the three persons of the Trinity transcending our family order by being three unique persons (with three different roles and authority) who sharing divinity- like three different persons in the family (Father/Husband, Mother/Wife and child) who share humanity. So the “image” I’m referring to now is not a “one-to-one” mirror image. The mirror image of God in us has more to do with our internal “spiritual soul,” or as some theologians have called it- “the divine spark or God-consciousness.” Here I am referring to the image of God in a broad sense as seen in “mankind” as a “race/kind” of creation not specifically what makes humans “humans” and distinct from all other creatures.

Lastly, consider my commentary in Genesis to help you understand how I see it. Feel free to ask questions below. This has helped me in understanding the importance of family and why it is so sacred to God- it is the image of God.

(Sidenote: We know it was God the Son who actually formed us in the dust and breathed into us; along with walking with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden because John 1:1-3, “1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.”

Notice in verse three John clearly states that through Jesus (“The Word”) all things we made- without Him nothing was made that has been made.)
