Thoughts on Halloween

If people, especially children are capable of getting demons by witches who curse Halloween candy, can Christians get the Holy Ghost to possess (fill) children if they bless the candy given in Jesus's name?

I am not trying to be controversial but truly asking everyone to consider the following:

1. FREE WILL: If the devil doesn't need permission, why does God? And if such a little open door, like getting candy, can lead to demon possession, why don't all the children who come to church outreaches get baptized in the Holy Spirit, speaking in other tongues? I know Christians bless the food & giveaways.

2. CHILDREN: Why did Jesus say children belong to the Kingdom of God if they can so easily be demonized- where are their guardian angels that Jesus said they had? (Matt. 19:14; 18:10) And why aren't all non-Christian children demon-possessed- jumping into the fire like the boy in Mark 9:22 or the man who broke chains and cut himself in Mark 5:5?

3. AGE OF ACCOUNTABILITY: What if the fortune-telling girl in Acts and the boy who threw himself in the fire in the Gospels were actually closer to what we would consider teenagers and not little children? In other words, what if they were old enough to make sinful choices and reap the evil? Thus, demon possession wasn't an accident, but a consequence of personal sin. If you do not accept this cultural difference in how the Bible uses the word "children," be prepared to accept that God allowed kindergarten/elementary-aged children to get eaten by bears for mocking Elijah in 2 Kings 2:23-25. Here is a word study on the Bible's usage of "children" that shows it can include all children until adulthood- https://www.1517.org/articles/the-misunderstood-story-of-bear-attacks-a-bald-prophet-and-forty-two-mouthy-kids

4. EVERYDAY IS GOD'S DAY: What if we taught our children to see every day as God's day and a chance to defeat the evil in this world? Therefore, when people dress up like demons we can teach our children to preach to them and explain how Jesus sets us free from demons. What if we told our children that Halloween is when we can see what people have in their hearts and what they value. Like a sermon illustration, they can learn that God is greater than scary things. For example in the Bible when God's people had to face evil people and scary times they trusted God for victory! Though we may walk by my neighbor's evil yard (i.e., "the valley of the shadow of death")- we will fear no evil!

Just things to consider. 🙂 I am grateful that Metro Praise International Church allows each family to decide what do to on such days. Therefore, whatever you do, do it all for JESUS!

Colossians 3:17, "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
